Bible Stories
As a child, my parents dutifully sent me to Sunday School, but somewhere around the age of 6, I tuned out. Consequently, my knowledge of the Bible was pretty limited. Complicating the matter is the fact that, even when I did try to read the Bible, I often became confused. I had a pretty hard time understanding anything I read. Of course, I was reading it with the attitude that it wasn't worth reading anyway. That's not a real good way to read the Bible. Another problem here was probably the fact that I was trying to read the King James Version of the bible. If you're struggling to understand the bible, I strongly suggest you use a more modern interpretation of it. I use the New International Version, but there's one called The Message that is really easy to use.
Since becoming a Christian, I have come to hear and read about a lot of Bible stories that are really cool. They've helped me a lot in dealing with fear, accepting who I am and that God loves me, understanding why I am the way I am and much, much more. I've heard and read these stories because I've pretty much immersed myself in my growth journey full time over the last several months. Knowing that most people don't have the blessing of being able to do this, I'd like to share some of those stories with you, putting them in one place to make them easier to find.
There are plenty of interpretations of many stories in the Bible. Please bear in mind that I've taken from them the things that I most needed to hear. Others may find different meaning - the best thing to do is to read what others have to say on the subject, listen to a lot of sermons and talk to other Christians about what these stories mean to them. That way, you won't be led astray if I'm misinterpreting something. There is safety in a multitude of counselors.
I hope you enjoy my interpretations of these stories and that they come to mean as much to you as they do to me.
